I am Demisexual and I didn’t know we get to be dragons I love that lol The most annoying discourse I see commonly about being demisexual is the idea that everyone is like that. But “society” makes it so people don’t have any values. Very confusing to me because one of the main things I felt before I discovered the label was how different I am from my peers.

I didn't come to the realization that I am ACE until I turned 50, which is a hell of a time to make a life altering realization about yourself 😁 In grade school I fell in love with Smaug after reading The Hobbit and for years when people asked me about my first crush I told them it was Smaug...and now I consider myself a book dragon...and I had no idea Aces identified as Dragons....this makes so much more sense now...Your work is absolutely stunning and thank you for recognizing and including us.

Hullo Denise, I have enjoyed watching your creation for your “Pride animals” and believe that art can open eyes and hearts! You create truly beautiful paintings and lovely commentary too! I was a bit surprised by the comment of someone who felt they were NOT part of the LGBT+ community. It is easier to hate than accept. We are all on the spectrum of life and we can encourage everyone to be what and who they are. I am glad that you continue to be truly open and encouraging through your art. Thank you for sharing more of your ideas and pride creations! I did wait for the final results of the final creation, I am just going to say it is glorious! I have been a bit hard on myself about brushes and how many I use. I was taught that you should be able to get your whole painting done with a #12 sable! I am just going to say that I was only able to do this for a very short time, while my Gran created painting after painting for many years with the one brush. Go easier on yourself and enjoy your painting, use every brush there is to create the effects you need for your paintings! I have also started to use white paint in my watercolor paintings, mostly gouache but I still hear that voice in my head “The white in your painting comes from the paper!” It is truly a hard rule for me to break. I am just so glad that art and artists are evolving and acceptance is possible if we all just try.

To people here watching who might not consider ace and or aro people part of the lgbtq+ community, consider: Asexual and Aromantic people can be heterosexual- although, they still do not fit the heteronormative norms of today even if they were straight, especially asexual people. I’m also aro ace myself, and I know for sure it is alienating to be around others who do not feel the same way growing up, I’ve been harassed for “pretending” I didn’t have a crush or had sexual or romantic feelings. I eventually find out that I’m not the only one who felt this way, it was reassuring All things said, it’s important to know that Asexuals and Aromantic can still be lesbian, gay, bi, pan, trans and etc. But some may be straight too, and they’re still part of the lgbtq+ regardless If you still think they don’t belong, I probably can’t change your opinion on it and I don’t care enough to educate someone who came to hate rather than take the time to understand other identities

DaVinci for the win! I've actually thought for a long time that they have similar pigmentation to W&N and Schmincke; they only are weaker compared to the other US brands. Looking at your swatches at the end, I'm not even sure that's fair to say. I do find their phthalos to be noticeably less pigmented, especially the greens, but I've concluded that's a feature, not a bug (to make them easier to handle). I see why you love the Sennelier ultramarine -- I'll have to try that someday! Oh and isn't it interesting how DS paints pan so terribly 😅

Lovely spread!! Its really funny because one of my least favorite colors when not mixed is quinacridone violet. Its hard to explain, but I’m autistic and have sensory issues and visually that paint gives me the same feeling that nails on a chalkboard does. However, I adore that paint for mixing rich deep skintones and purples. So I suffer it on the palette and mix it in as soon as possible 😅 Vibrant greens like this look pretty to me but I so rarely have a use for them, however it is useful for toning down my dreaded quin violet if I add too much.

This green is a color you see everywhere in string in the great lakes everywhere, I never understand why people are saying it isn't natural like say a olive green. Not just this green but any flourescent color, when I go out in spring I see soo many bright colors that you just cannot get unless you mix in colors that are flourescent, you could also use them as a underlayer, mix, or secondary layers, that way you still have lightfast color, but you can have a color closer to the truth, at least for a while, tbh its kinda poetic in the way the flourescent colors will fade, just like spring fades to summer and summer fades to fall. I do believe that the flourescent colors do last longer when I layers them this way and they last even longer with UV spray and glass and or reflective plastic encasing. I will never believe these colors aren't natural because when you really look at nature you will find plants and other life that will react with blacklight and that grow all on their own. Even when you look at butterfly under uv spectrum you end up seeing what they see, which is completely different wing designs than what we see with our eyes, there are some videos here on RUclips that provide visuals for what I'm talking about.

So sorry to hear about Cricket. I bought DS's Phthalo Yellow Green as a beginner, and wanting a color wheel palette influenced by Oto Kano. I regretted it but have since realized it's quite useful for florals (I painted a pink amaryllis with just Bright Rose and the Yellow Green, it neutralizes quite nicely) and also for summer landscapes (can't seem to get that bright green from other mixes!) I did miss seeing the finished spread as a whole instead of only in closeup! Also. I just used Stormy Blue this morning.
